Our Mission:

Casa San Jose is a community resource center that advocates for and empowers Latinos by promoting integration and self-sufficiency.

Our Vision:

To model a strong culture of acceptance and integration in which immigrants and other newcomers are treated with dignity, respect, and kindness, and can freely preserve and celebrate their unique cultures while adapting to their new lives in the Greater Pittsburgh area.

Our History:

Established in 2013 as an independent non-profit with an independent board of directors, Casa San Jose serves the Latino community as a base of support, referral, and access to important social, health-related, and educational services to help immigrants acclimate to new home, and to know the experience of welcome here.

Now with a full time staff of five, and more than 100 active volunteers, Casa San Jose has established itself as the trustworthy ‘go-to’ service coordination site for immigrants and refugees in Allegheny County, helping more than 1,000 Latinos access the services they need to thrive and do well in our region.

Casa provides after-school educational programs for Latino children and youth to foster academic and social success, celebration of their native cultures, and opportunities for youth leadership and civic engagement. Casa hosts special events conducted in Spanish such as consular visits, health and wellness seminars, and cultural festivities.

Casa advocates for Latino immigrants and their rights, participates in immigration reform education, outreach and events. Casa works to protect Latino immigrants at risk of deportation, and to inform and educate them on their legal rights and obligations, providing “Know Your Rights” clinics to answer questions and assist with documentation.
